How Does the Railway Protection Guard Ensure Our Safety?
Ensuring safety on the railway is not only about protecting infrastructure and rolling stock, but also about providing passengers with a safe and comfortable travel experience each day. Grzegorz Przysiężny, Commander of the Railway Protection Guard at PKP SKM in Tricity, explains the role and responsibilities of the Railway Protection Guard.
The expert explains that the Railway Protection Guard operating within the PKP SKM structure since 2004 primarily carries out its duties on behalf of the railway operator, focusing its activities on the railway line managed by the company. At the same time, he emphasises that the responsibilities of Railway Protection Guard officers extend far beyond safeguarding infrastructure and trains. An equally important aspect of their work is ensuring passenger safety, in accordance with the duties defined by applicable regulations.
Grzegorz Przysiężny points out that passengers are at the heart of the Railway Protection Guard’s activities. Officers not only respond to potential threats but also assist travellers and help ensure they reach their destinations safely. He adds that a professional and calm approach to every situation helps build trust and a sense of security among railway passengers.
As the Commander emphasises, the role of the Railway Protection Guard is not limited to enforcing regulations. It also involves explaining the reasons behind their actions and supporting passengers in using rail transport safely and responsibly.
