“Get Reading with WTP” – a unique tram library on the streets of Warsaw
Who among us does not look forward to that moment on the way to work when we can finally open a favourite book and disconnect from the world? Last Friday and Saturday, we showed that Warsaw’s public transport is the perfect place for book lovers. A historic tram on line K set off onto the city’s tracks, transformed into a mobile, atmospheric reading room.
The interior of the carriage, with its wooden tables, created a space where time seemed to slow down. Passengers could not only enjoy a quiet read but also exchange books as part of a “book-sharing” initiative. The shelves were filled with titles collected, among others, from SKM employees.
A special highlight of the programme was a series of literary recordings played through the speakers during the ride. Prepared by employees of Warsaw Public Transport, they meant that, between stops, passengers could listen to the voices of characters such as Sherlock Holmes and those from Lalka.
